Voluntary Kennel Inspection
Program
Mush with P.R.I.D.E. has
established a voluntary kennel inspection program. We hope this will
raise the standard of sleddog care. We hope this program will be
applicable to kennels anywhere in the world, or will serve as a
model for other certification programs. The P.R.I.D.E. Board firmly
believes that if we mushers conduct ourselves responsibly then we
will be less likely to suffer from unknowing governmental
regulation. We hope that this program is a demonstration of the fact
that we can responsibly take care of our own.
The documents are purposely
given in protected form to make them difficult to modify. Please
distribute them to all who might be affected or interested, but do
not make changes. We welcome changes to improve the program, contact
P.R.I.D.E. if you have concerns.
If you wish to have your
kennel certified by Mush with P.R.I.D.E. download the
Kennel Inspection document and review the requirements. A
designated inspector is defined as:
·
A licensed
veterinarian, or
·
A veterinary
technician, as designated by a licensed veterinarian, or
·
An animal enforcement
officer, or
·
A commissioned law
enforcement officer (village safety officer in bush Alaska) or bylaw
officer (Canada)
Only designated inspectors
are authorized to act as inspectors under the voluntary kennel
inspection program. Please note that Mush with P.R.I.D.E. Board
members are NOT authorized to do inspections.
After the completed and
signed kennel inspection documents are received by the Board, a
certificate of inspection will be mailed to the member stating the
level of certification that the kennel has achieved. The fee for
certification is $25 USD. Payment must be received prior to a
certificate being issued.
